    Description

    vtg French Good Luck CELLULOID CICADA PIN large 3"
    This is an old carved and etched brown celluloid cicada pin.  It is art deco style and the cicada is made in 2 pieces with the torty celluloid legs riveted underneath the brown upper part of bug with head and wings.  There is old worn black painted accents on the head and fine etching on the wings. Measures 3" long and has inset 2-piece pinback with simple C-hook clasp.  This is one of oldest cicada pins, from early 1900s, and it has some small signs of age with a crackled surface and little chips at the ends of wings, shows mostly on back side.  Also, notice that the riveted torty legs are set on the pin crooked with much more showing on one side than the other.  I tried to gently move the legs over and they won't easily budge
