    Description

Found in Maine… an original, vintage 1967 Vietnam-era U.S. Military AFM (Milspec) Lantern Quad Glass “FEUREX” printed on one of the glass panels!
This lantern did have some “old” gas in the tank when I found it, so I emptied it out.. and cleaned it the best I could.. removed the old mantle and wiped it down..looks pretty good now!! The glass panels are in excellent condition, didn’t see any chips, etc in them.. they all slide in/out of the lantern great. There is a little surface rust on the inside of the attached funnel piece.. and some normal paint loss on the fount.. but still retains most of the original green O/D paint, and the yellow instruction label is still attached.. some of the corners on the label are starting to peel back. The plunger looks good, even the leather piece on the plunger is in excellent condition!
The storage compartment has some mantles and a “pricker” tool inside.
These AFM lanterns were manufactured in Ohio, and very similar to the Coleman military-spec lanterns made for the US forces back in the day.
The top piece has a fixed anchor nut, and after tightening it down, the top piece still was able to “spin” around on top of the metal frame.. I believe it was designed this way??
I didn’t fire this lantern.. so it may need a thorough cleaning/service… strictly sold AS IS.. enjoy!
