    Description

"The Most Important Work Illustrating Mexico in the 19th Century" Mexico y sus Alrededores. Collecion de Monumentos, Trajes y Paisajes Dibujados al Natural y Litografiados por los Artistas Mexicanos.
Mexico City Establecimiento Litografico de Decaen,
    Editor,
    1855-1856
    ,
    1858,
    1864.
Captions in Spanish, English, and French. The artists involved were Casimiro Castro, Juan Campillo, Luis Auda, and G. Rodriguez.  This very rare and important work with some 110 plates in all sells for ,000. Michael Mathes in Mexico on Stone calls this work "one of the most significant lithographic productions in the history of the art. This is the most important work illustrating Mexico in the 19th century." To the best of my ability to do research, this is one of those plates.
Mexico y sus Alrededores is the title at top. See the photo for text at bottom. Cut off is text in English:
"Mexican antiquities which exist in the National Museum of Mexico in 1857" and that I am told have mostly disappeared from that venue now. This fascinating piece is handsomely professionally matted and framed. Mat opening almost 14" by 11", frame is 19 x16 and 1/2".  Price drop of if you want it unframed.
