    Description

This is a set of reproduced or reprinted 251 Civil War cdvs, carte de visits.  All are in very good condition.  The former owner had intended to issue a set of Civil War cards similar to sports cards but his financing fell through and he died shortly after so nothing was ever done to print the sets.  The photos have been put in a stiff black paper photo insert with gilt edging around the photo.  They are numbered consecutively from 1 through 252.  Each photo card (except for #1) are 3 1/2 x 4 1/2."  The photos show them inserted in a binder with 3 cards per page and 2 sides per page.  This auction does NOT include the binders...mailing cost would be excessive, weight for this with the binders would be over 11 pounds.  I have written out a listing of who is on each card...some cards did not have any identification so the men are unidentified.  When I acquired this I had a listing of all the cards but I misplaced it some years ago but still have a handwritten copy of it so you will be able to identify most of the men.  Card 220 with soldier is missing.  Most of the photos are of generals or high ranking officers but there are some of lower ranking men, also one of John Wilkes Booth.  The vast majority are of Unions soldiers.
Some of the regiments in the group:  28th Illinois, Stuart's Horse Artillery, 61st Illinois, 10th Kansas, 11th Kansas, 136th Pennsylvania, 24th Michigan, 178th New York, 18th USCT, 143rd Pennsylvania, 1st VRC, 11th Wisconsin, 3rd Wisconsin Cavalry, 6th Iowa Cavalry, 60th USCT, 37th Illinois.
The photos all have a yellowish tinge which I have been told was necessary to make the prints.  Please remember these are all copies and no originals in the group.  I will ship these via Priority Mail, shipping weight just at 5 pounds.  Insurance coverage will be included.
