Description
Coleman produced the Model 202 from 1954 to 1963 and called it "The Professional" as it was designed for extreme outdoor use by professional guides and outfitters. The liberal use of stainless steel and brass made it resistant to rust and this lantern is a testament to that quality craftsmanship. Production of the model ended in 1963 and this lantern dated 10/63 is from the last month of production and the only month that the low vent model was produced. These are somewhat rare and highly
desirable
for the collector who wants one of every variation.
This lantern is in very good condition and has been disassembled, cleaned and tested after reassembly.
The fuel cap gasket was replaced, the check valve was removed and cleaned, and the pump leather was oiled.
The brass parts have been cleaned and hand polished.
The lantern pumps up, holds pressure for days, and passes air through the generator when the valve is opened.
The stainless steel burner has cleaned up beautifully.
The generator has been cleaned and passes air as it should.
The nickel on the fount has polished up very well and has just a few flaws.
There are some areas of light freckling and shallow dings in the nickel so please view all the photos carefully.
The fount is clean inside and the decal is a correct waterslide reproduction of the original.
The vent is original and correct with the blue dot around the stud hole. There are no chips in the vent.
The red letter globe has the correct wording of "PYREX" in an arch over "Made in USA for" above the Coleman logo with the lantern image in the lower right corner. This was the globe logo style used from 1962-77.
There are no chips, cracks, or burn marks in the glass.
This lantern is ready for you to admire or light, but definitely to enjoy.
