    Description: This photo depicts Confederate General Joseph Wheeler in his uniform.  Wheeler was born in Georgia and lived from 1836-1906. The exact date of this photo is not known, but it is believed that it was taken sometime between 1861 to 1865.  Wheeler has the rare distinction of serving as a Confederate General during the US Civil War as well as a US General in later years during the Spanish-American War.  Additionally, Wheeler was a US Congressman from Alabama in the years after the Civil War.
