Vintage 1920's era Chico Bros. Paper Advertising Grocery Bag with handles - New Old Stock
    bw#bhndShlf
Never used - I once had a bunch of these and sold them at shows.
Front of bag states; It will Pay You to Buy From Chicos Bros. Imported & Staple Groceries Fresh Vegetables, We deliver and Ship Everywhere, 801 Castelar St. 505 Alpine St. Phone MU. 5735 Los Angeles, Calif.
The upper center of the bag shows an etching of the building with signage like "Established 1906" and showing an early 1900's delivery truck.
Large- measures about 14.5" across by 17.5" tall when laid flat. I have never opened this bag.
No stains, a couple short edge tears, a little edge wear, bright printing.
The bottom of the bag is marked with a C.W.P. CO. (possibly of Cornell, Wisconsin) Shopping bag manufacturing logo of a crown within a circle.
Some History; Chicos Brothers were open as a grocery (The even had a Winery in the early days), from 1909 to approx. the early 1940's. Some of the family members where; August (aug), Gus, CJ, Charles, Tula and Lula.
Note- the last image is for reference only. It shows that the building is still standing at the corner of 801 North Hill St (once Castelar) and Alpine in Chinatown.
Note- Shipping price is mostly due to the size on the package- buy multiples and save considerably on combined shipping.
